Bayou Country is the second studio album by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released by Fantasy Records in January 1969.
In January 1969, CCR kicked off their most productive and successful year by putting out Bayou Country, the first of three LPs to come out that year. The product of frontman/songwriter John Fogerty’s fascination with Louisiana swamp-rock and R&B, Bayou Country found the band coming into their own and honing their trademark sound. The LP contains hit singles Proud Mary and Born on the Bayou, plus a cover of Little Richard’s Good Golly Miss Molly.
“All the songs add up to a superb statement of purpose, a record that captures Creedence Clearwater Revival’s muscular, spare, deceptively simple sound as an evocative portrait of America.”
